Get Weird only Twenty Minutes from Treasure Island, Florida

The surrealism movement is defined by blending ideas of dream and reality, typically in unprecedented displays of creativity.  The godfather of it all was Spanish artist Salvador Dali, and the greatest collection of his works outside of Spain is just down the road in St. Petersburg.

Housed in a building that seems Dali himself created, the collection inside is not one to be missed!

Leave the Comforts of Treasure Island, Florida to Experience a Legend of Modern Art

Due east from Treasure Island Florida is the Morean Arts Center – near The Dali Museum and only twenty minutes away.  More so than other museums in the area, the Morean Arts Center invites guests to participate in the artistic experience.  The crown jewel of this museum, however, would have to be the Dale Chihuly collection.

Widely regarded as the forefather of modern glass blowing, Chihuly has drastically changed a medium and inspired countless others behind him.  All of his pieces will leave you in awe and wonder.  To ease some of your wonder, head over to the Morean Glass Studio and Hot Shop to watch artists blow and craft their inspiring works before your very eyes.

A Classic Museum Well Worth the Visit

St. Petersburg Museum of Fine Arts is more akin to your classic art museum but is still well worth a visit.  Still located just a short drive across the peninsula, the Museum of Fine Arts boasts pieces from some of the world’s most renowned artists including Monet, Gaugin, Renoir, O’Keefe, and countless others.

You can also take a step back in time and explore works from ancient civilizations or revel in modern technology as you view one of the most incredible photography collections in all of the Southeastern United States.  In short, the Museum of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg guarantees to have something for everyone!
