No matter the time of year, there is always something fun and exciting happening in Treasure Island.  When most of the country turns inward during the winter months, many hotels in Treasure Island and locals are just starting to get excited about the celebrations ahead.  The staff at Treasure Bay Resort and Marina is no exception and, as one of the premiere hotels in Treasure Island, Florida, we have many of our own favorite activities and recommendations for guests.  If you are planning to reserve a room in our Treasure Island hotel this January, check out these three unique events in our corner of The Sunshine State.

Tarpon Springs Epiphany – An Hour Drive from your Treasure Island Hotel

Whether you are a practicing Christian or not, the Epiphany celebration in Tarpon Springs is not to be missed.  Located about an hour north of Treasure Island, the beautiful drive to Tarpon Springs will expose you to even more of the beautiful Gulf Coast of Florida.  As far as Epiphany goes, this day-long event features food, drink, live music, and an annual swim contest in Spring Bayou to retrieve a cross thrown into the water by an archbishop.

Channel your Inner Gatsby on January 6th in Clearwater

On January 6th, head to the Fort Harrison Hotel in Clearwater for this year’s Great Gatsby Masquerade Ball.    This night of luxury and class is a fundraiser to support Human Trafficking Awareness, Human Rights Awareness, and housing for rescued youth.  Show up in your finest 1920’s garb and masquerade mask and prepare for a night of fine dining, champagne, dancing, speakers, and elegance.  This is the perfect change of scenery from your hotels in Treasure Island, and it is all for a good cause.

Celebrate in the Name of MLK – a Short Drive from Treasure Island

Head to St. Petersburg – a short 20-minute drive from most hotels in Treasure Island, Florida – on January 15th for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.  Here, watch the nations longest running MLK parade and participate in a Family Fun Day at Tropicana Field.  Festivities start at 11am and run until 8pm, giving you plenty of time to celebrate and honor this country’s greatest Civil Rights leader.

Whether you visit Treasure Island in June or January, there is always something fun and exciting happening in our part of the world.  This winter, check out some of the above events during your Treasure Island hotel vacation or ask one of our friendly staff at Treasure Bay Resort and Marina for even more recommendations.  If there is one thing we love it is helping transform your vacation from fun to unforgettable!
