Treasure Island beach resorts and Clearwater hotels boast the best location of many Florida resorts. Picturesque beaches are out your front door and hip beach towns line the shores, but Treasure Island beach is also a great jumping off point to explore the culture and activities of some of The Sunshine State’s most lively cities. From museums to concerts, places like Tampa and St. Petersburg are a short drive from most Clearwater hotels and an easy day trip from Treasure Bay Resort and Marina. This August, if you are looking to take a break from lounging on Treasure Island beach and want to get out and do something fun, consider heading up to a Tampa Bay Rays home game. Whether you are a baseball enthusiast trying to catch a game in every Major League ballpark or just want to do something different, Tropicana Field is sure to provide an afternoon to remember. Below are some highlight games to consider.
August 4th and 5th vs. The Chicago White Sox
Our Tampa Bay Rays are currently sitting just above .500 in the competitive American League East – which they share with the Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, Toronto Blue Jays, and Baltimore Orioles. While they are currently in the middle of the pack, the Rays have proven that they can play with anybody. The White Sox are below .500 but also a scrappy team looking for a win. This game should be great to watch, and it is Akinori Iwamura Bobblehead Night meaning that every fan will get a free bobblehead while supplies last. Stop in early and partake in a 10-year anniversary celebration for the 2008 American League Championship Rays team. The following night, on August 5th, every fan will receive a Kevin Kiermaler lunchbox (while supplies last).
August 25th and 26th vs. The Boston Red Sox
The Boston Red Sox not only sit atop the American League East, but they are currently the best team in the American League in general. That being the case, they carry a target on their back and our Tampa Bay Rays are gunning for them! To make it that much more fun, the first game of this series is Wade Boggs Bobblehead Night, while supplies last. On August 26th, kids under the age of 14 will receive DJ Kitty slippers. Whether you go to the first, second, or both games in this series you are sure to have an unforgettable time at the ballpark and in the Florida sun.
Florida resorts and Clearwater hotels have a lot to offer, not the least of which is their proximity to amazing recreational opportunities. If you find yourself booking a vacation at Treasure Bay Resort and Marina this August, consider taking a break from the beach and heading up to Tampa to enjoy a day of America’s favorite past time. We’re sure you won’t regret it!
