Many of our visitors at Treasure Bay Resort and Marina don’t realize how much great live music we have traveling through the area.  Most everyone that stays with us is looking to soak up the sunshine, relax on the beaches, and enjoy everything else that the Gulf Coast of Florida has to offer.  Whether it is already on your radar or not, consider adding some live music to your Sunshine State escape this December. There are countless remarkable venues in the greater Tampa Bay and Clearwater area, all of which host world-class musicians on tour from around the globe.  There are too many passing through this month for us to list here, but below are just a few of our favorites.

Kenny G

It’s not everyday that you have a chance to see one of the most famous musicians on their particular instrument but, if you happen to be staying with us on the weekend of December 14th, it may just be your lucky day.  Famed saxophonist Kenny G will be playing at Ruth Eckerd Hall just down the road in Clearwater, Florida on the 14th as part of his Miracles Holiday and Hits Tour.  Beyond being an accomplished saxophone player, Kenny G is one of the best-selling artists of all time with over 75 million in record sales.  If you are hoping to channel the holiday spirit, there’s no better way than to spend the evening with Kenny G.

Marty Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives

If country music and Americana is your thing, then be sure to stop by Clearwater’s Capital Theatre on Saturday December 15th to catch award winning artist Marty Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives.  Stuart made a name for himself early on by mixing the sounds of bluegrass, rockabilly, honky tonk, and country music with his guitar and mandolin playing.  Relying on his Mississippi roots and French, Scottish, English, Choctaw, and Colombian heritage, Stuart has made a career out of redefining country music. Fresh on the heals of their new album Way Out West, Marty Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives are sure to deliver a concert you won’t soon forget.

Celtic Thunder

It turns out this weekend is a big one for music in our corner of Florida, as Celtic Thunder will also be stopping by the Ruth Eckerd Hall on December 15th.  This Irish singing group is as much a musical experience as a full-on production, as their shows include theatrical displays, dramatic sets, and choreographed performances.  If you are at all a fan of Celtic music, or even if you are the slightest bit curious, don’t miss the chance to check these guys out during your stay with Treasure Bay Resort and Marina.

Because our corner of Florida has so much else going on, the fact that we attract major touring musicians often goes unnoticed.  However, if you would like to add a little live music to your stay with Treasure Bay Resort and Marina you have no shortage of options.  From large scale venues in Tampa Bay and Clearwater to local beach bars right out your front door, there always seems to be somebody playing the perfect tunes for an evening of easily listening or an escape to the dance floor.  Oftentimes, the hardest part is just choosing who you want to see!
